The Art of Dreaming

As a musician I  have always been selftaught , and although I´d never considered myself a professional musician ,music its been always my driveforce in life and nowadays I can say that I make a living with it long time ago now. I started playing in bands at the age of 15 in Basque Country and that soon I got up on stage and had the first feeling of what is like to be in front of the public. That helped me to develop my skills as a composer and showed me how music can lead you to the infinite. After 10 years in different punk rock projects I left my native land  for London , a place where I wouldn´t even dream to make a living out of music. That´s what I did anyways, starting from the bottom .In there a new multiciultural world open up for me;  full of new colours ,new flavours and new smells. You could walk  the streets , markets or places around and music was present in every corner.Reggae music in Brixton and Hackney, arab music around Whitechapel or african music in the Pekham Rye market and so on.Music flourished everywhere .But the culture I was most amazed with was  the diverse Latinamerican  Culture . You could go anywhere and watch gigs  where colombian cumbia, cuban salsa or peruvian guaino was played. Apart from sharing my squats with a lot of latinamerican brothers and sisters I started my project with some of them at the social center called The Canal ,placed at the heart of Camden Town. That´s where Radio Revolucion was born. At the beginning the band just played  many benefits at squat parties but thanks to the contacts we made with the latin people coming to those gigs we managed to make our way into the London latin  music scene. At this time I did a couple of trips to South America, first to Colombia and after to Chile, where I played  a lot with local musicians and had my first contact with Indigenous cultures and wisdom. By then I got back to England wanting to focus more seriously in the project. There was a production company called Movimientos that put us playing in the best London venues and different festivals. Also we went to Berlin and Italy to play a couple of festivals .We recorded a CD thanks to the Strummerville charity but could not find no record company to launch it with and end up placing it in the web for free downloading. Meanwhile we played some gigs for a charity working in Africa and they invited me to go and build a school in The Gambia.I got back a bit sick and the London weather got me worst so I decided to spend four mounths in Barcelona busking on the streets. Back in London and with that experience in my pocket  I started busking all over the place in the city (the overground,Southbank,Brixton market.....) Being away so much time didn´t help for  the ongoing of the band and we end up playing small gigs in squats as in the beginning. Great places to spread the message squat parties  but too much party going on for my body anyways.Feeling disoriented and  wanting to clean my body and soul I got a tickect to Colombia for three mounths (not the best place to stop partying anyways....). I arrived in Bogota in march 2013 and there was party all over the place with the Iberoamerican Theater Festival just happening ; gigs, street parties and performances were found everywhere. In the bohemian place of La Candelaria I met a lot of musicians , artisans and jugglers and everybody talked about the same thing  : how they´ve  toured South America strictly playing on buses and markets ,juggling on traffic lights or selling handcrafts on the beach and tourist resorts. In the beggining I did doubt about it  but after  spending a month with my mate in Cali, Colombia I decided to get down to Ecuador instead of catching my plane back to England, up north in Bogota. From there I didn´t stop busking and travelling for more than a year. From Colombia I crossed the all pacific coast line down to Chile, leaving the panamerican road for 3 months to navigate the Amazone river. From the coast to the mountains ,from big cities to small towns ,from the jungle back to the coast............Otavalo, Puerto Lopez, Montañita ,Mancora,Piura,Chiclayo,Jaen,Yurimaguas,Iquitos,Moyobamba,Arequipa,Puno,Lima,Tacna,Arica,Valparaiso,Santiago,Mendoza..........And when I was up to start travelling Argentina I got an invitation to work in an itercultural school project in the mountains of South of Chile, in  Mapuche indian land .I have been 6 mounths cleaning my body and learning a lot from the wise people of nearby comunities .Then I stayed for a while in the big city of Buenos Aires playing in some radios like Radio Sur and La Callle Rebelde..After that I did move to Uruguay where i am recording my new materiaI in the city of Montevideo. Now I´ve got a lot of new tunes inspired on my trip then......Stay tuned  to the radio.......
